SMX gets In-principle regulatory clearance from MAS  
In a significant milestone, the Singapore Mercantile Exchange (`SMX` or the `Exchange`) today announced that it has received in-principle regulatory clearance from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the central bank of Singapore and regulator for its financial markets, to operate the first Pan-Asian multi-product commodity derivatives exchange.

Standard Chartered to be Clearing and Settlement Bank for Singapore Mercantile Exchange  
Singapore Mercantile Exchange (SMX) today announced appointment of Standard Chartered Bank as their Clearing and Settlement Bank. Standard Chartered Bank will provide electronic funds transfer and settlement processing services as well as maintain member clearing accounts to facilitate settlement of transactions executed on the Exchange.

SMX appoints Mr Thomas J. McMahon as CEO  
The Singapore Mercantile Exchange today announced that Mr Thomas J. McMahon will be joining as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. McMahon has over 25 years of industry experience in derivatives and commodities across Asia and USA. Prior to joining SMX, he was President of Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange and former Director of NYMEX Asia. Mr McMahon is well suited to establish SMX into a truly world class Pan-Asian commodity derivatives exchange from Singapore.

SMX joins global network of top commodities exchanges  
Singapore Mercantile Exchange has announced that it has been admitted as a member of a number of leading international derivatives associations. SMX has joined the Futures Industry Association, the Swiss Futures and Options Association, the Association of Futures Markets and the Futures and Options Association, putting it on par with the world?s benchmark commodities exchanges. SMX will play an important role in sharing best practices and information with futures and options professionals across the globe, facilitating a more efficient integration of the commodities markets between the West and Asia.
