Membership
All entities who propose to become members of the Exchange and SMXCC need to fulfill
stringent capital requirements and other non-financial requirements set out by both
the Exchange and SMXCC.
The Exchange shall offer the following class of memberships:
Broker Member
Permitted to trade its own proprietary trades and on behalf of its customers in
all products listed by the Exchange.
Trade Member (Single Segment)
Permitted to trade its own proprietary trades for the specific commodity for which
membership is approved.
Trade member (Composite)
Permitted to trade its own proprietary trades for all products listed on the Exchange.
Members who wish to clear transactions executed on the Exchange, will be required
to take up the Clearing Membership of SMXCC. The classes of clearing memberships
offered are:
General Clearing Member
A Broker Member of the Exchange who wishes to clear and settle trades for itself,
its customers including any other Trade Member, Broker Member, would be required
to become a General Clearing Member of SMXCC.
Trade Clearing Members
A Trade Member who wishes to clear its own proprietary trades would be required
to become a Trade Clearing Member of SMXCC.
Special Clearing Members
A Bank or any financial institution, who wishes to provide clearing and settlement
services to the members of the Exchange, would be required to become a Special Clearing
Member of SMXCC.
